ABa is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our business operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to act ethically and with integrity and to implement effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not occur.
Although not legally required to publish a statement under the Modern Slavery Act 2015, ABa does so voluntarily to demonstrate our commitment to responsible business practices and to provide assurance to customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Our Policies and Approach
ABa operates a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking, all of which involve the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.
We prohibit the use of forced, bonded (including debt bondage) or indentured labour, involuntary prison labour, slavery, or the trafficking of persons within our business and throughout our supply chain.
Our policies and procedures are designed to promote ethical behaviour and integrity across all business relationships and are implemented in accordance with our internationally recognised ISO standards. A supplier’s commitment to these principles is considered when awarding or renewing business relationships.
Due Diligence and Risk Management
To identify and mitigate the risk of modern slavery, ABa:
-
Maintains working practices aligned with our ISO Management System
-
Works primarily with UK-based and local suppliers and does not source labour from outside the UK
-
Assesses suppliers on an individual basis and expects them to maintain appropriate anti-slavery policies and comply with ABa’s Supplier Control Policy
-
Verifies employees’ right to work in the UK as part of our recruitment processes
-
Encourages employees to raise concerns with senior management
-
Provides induction and ongoing training to promote awareness of ethical and sustainability values
-
Reviews this statement and related policies annually to ensure ongoing effectiveness
Based on the nature of our operations and supply chain, ABa considers the risk of modern slavery to be low but remains vigilant and committed to continuous improvement.
